Finally! A new addition to the eating rotation.

99 Chicken meets all the requirements to be added to the weekly ‘eating out after work’ restaurant mix. Close by. Affordable. GOOD. Let it be known that I’m not a believer of greaseless, healthy fried chicken. I am, however, a believer that fried chicken is damn good.

For about $25 (including tip) we got a 12 piece original chicken, 2 pieces of sauce chicken, and a refill of 2 pieces of original chicken plus access to the salad bar – this fed 3 hungry folks including 2 rice monsters (you know who you are). I use the term salad bar loosely. It’s mixed greens, iceberg lettuce, canned corn, broccoli, pickled jalapeno, radish, and salad dressing. You get unlimited rice that you serve yourself. There are bowls, big plates, small plates, cups, utensils, water, and rice next to the salad bar. Kinda like eating at a friend’s house, if your friend’s mom made really good fried chicken.

The chicken comes piping hot, moist, well seasoned, and tasty. Limited oilies on your fingers is a good bonus. The sauce chicken is sweet and spicy. I decided that I preferred the OG version as the sauce is a bit overpowering. I’ve yet to try the spicy chicken but I’ll give it a shot the next time I visit. Oh yes, there will be a next time.

Other reasons why this place gets high marks – really nice owners and kdrama posters on the wall. Sweet.

This place is near El Camino and Kiely/Bower in the same plaza as Petco and Sushi Oh Sushi. Also, what’s up with all of the 9s? 4 1/2****
