food for warriors
We had a work offsite to a Warriors game last Thursday. I really have no business going to basketball games but I try to enjoy them for the simple pleasure of driving my sports fan brother Joshua crazy.

We sat super close in the beginning to watch the them shoot around before the game. Afterwards, we were relegated to the nosebleed seats to enjoy the actual game. Let’s get to what’s really important. What’d I eat?
The choices are pretty limited at Oracle Arena. You have jumbo hot dogs (not jumbo at all), cheeseburgers, chipotle burgers, fries, nachos, pretzels, and a few random food stalls with bbq and cheesesteaks and stuff.
fancy a biscuit?

It’s a lazy Sunday (my favorite kind). I’m sitting around watching the marathon of “Living with the Mek” on the Travel Channel. It’s pretty interesting actually. My fam just left a few hours ago and just like everytime we separate, I get uber bored when they leave.
So in addition to garlic peanut eating and TV watching, I figure this is as good a time as any to catch up on some blogging.
What’s up with the biscuit? Looks like a run of the mill graham cracker, huh? Actually….

It’s my iPod in disguise!
I ordered this back in January to cover the Christmas present that I got from my brothers. Like a dummy I had it sent to my parent’s address so I didn’t get to enjoy it for awhile. My iPod suffered a few scratches in the meantime. Anyway, they are $10 plus $2 for shipping and handling and come in a couple different flavors/colors. They come with a plastic cover for the screen (not a crappy sticker thing but an actual cover) and I haven’t had any trouble with the clickwheel covering. If you’re jealous, get your own here.
a rockband easter
I headed home to Hanford this weekend for the first time since the holidays. Since my middle brother started college, it’s been harder to get the whole family together. Whenever we are in the same place at the same time, fun and hilarity ensue. I have an awesome family. My mom feeds me until I burst and still lets me be a baby when I’m too lazy to take care of myself, my dad pretty much knows everything in the whole world and can fix/do/make anything, my three brothers are slightly crazy but in a good way.
The food portion of this post is about ginisang corned beef (ginisang = sauteed // corned beef = from the can). My mom asked me what I wanted to eat and I don’t know what possessed me but I picked this. It’s garlic, onions, and potatoes sauteed with canned corned beef. Comfort food for sure. It’s a dish that we had all the time growing up (very cost effective for a big family plus easy leftovers that can be made into torta).

arya global cuisine, cupertino, ca
Hiiiiiiiiiiiiii…
It’s been awhile huh? I’ve been busy with the flu and sinus infections and inhaled corticosteriods and such. Like a baby my mommy came to make me feel better. After that hot mess, I had lots of work to wade through (things pile up while you’re out coughing like you’re getting paid to do it and convincing yourself not to rip out your tonsils). Also 3 of the 4 last weekends were eaten up by work (boo!).
Luckily this past weekend RULED.

I started off on Friday night with all of my favorite ladies – Jane, Lizzie, the other Joann, Cindy, Jess, Julia and Jen Lui. We tried out Arya Global Cuisine in Cupertino right off of Steven’s Creek and a stone’s throw from Vallco. Arya specializes in Persian cuisine but also serves Italian food and some Greek stuff. Raaandom.
krungthai, mountain view, ca
There’s another Krungthai of the same chain in San Jose near Valley Fair but I most often frequent the one in Mountain View due to it’s proximity to my old ‘hood. This was a Friday night dinner to catch up on life and other details with Lizzie.
We stuck to our usuals and started with papaya salad. I can never get the seasoning right on this one. It’s always too spicy or not spicy enough it. Good thing the papaya itself is always plenty good. Their version has a few slices of tomato, a wedge of cabbage, a few shredded carrots, a sprinkling of crushed peanuts and fish sauce.

kitkat wars
JenLui brought me 3 different types of KitKat from Hong Kong – orange chocolate, melon, and peach.

I think most of these flavors originate in Japan. Like I mentioned before, Japan is serious about their KitKat and I can respect that. In true fashion I brought the KitKat to work to have everyone taste test the different flavors. I kinda had my money on the peach purely for aesthetic reasons – pink box with a cherry blossom in the corner.
sugar and ice, the wynn las vegas
Yay back at home! Wrote this entry March 3, 2008…

I’m sitting in my jammies (black and white plaid with pink trim – like ‘em?) in one of two full beds in my room on the 51st floor of the Wynn in Las Vegas. Sometimes life is good. Real good.
back on the jetplane
No posts for a few days as I head back to the airport. Las Vegas food adventures to come…
For now, a random but beautiful picture of the sunset over Santorini’s caldera taken by yours truly. I think it’s time for more world travels.

sagebrush cantina, calabasas, ca
Warning: If you are one of those people who doesn’t like it when their food touches, do not read this post. This is by far some of the randomest food I’ve put together on one plate. I suppose it’s what happens when you eat at a buffet. Even so, it deserves a warning.
I found myself in Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey’s old hood after the LA shenanigans at Ritual the night before. I later saw this place on an episode of Rock of Love. Pretty classy right? For real though, Sagebrush is a pretty neat place. Laid back with sawdust on the floors, friendly servers, lots of champagne, and completely unpretentious food it’s a nice way to spend a Sunday brunch.
My first plate included country style potatoes, a tamale, a slice of pizza, and lasagna. The lasagna and pizza shared the same sauce which was tangy and good. It was like some doctored canned version, the kind of lasagna your mom would make. (Not my mom, she doesn’t make lasagna but you get what I mean.) The masa in the tamale was nice and soft but still had that nice mealy texture.

Check out this shot of Jesse hacking away at the largest rib I’ve ever seen.
ode to pinkberry
This post has been chillin’ in the wings for awhile. My stupid sore throat has kept me frozen yogurt-less for 7 days. Let’s hope the hiatus doesn’t last much longer. In honor of my love for tart frozen yogurt, here’s the much awaited (ok, not really) story of the day I finally met Pinkberry.
==
I had heard so much about Pinkberry that I kind of thought I would hate it.
I was pretty much really wrong.
Paty and I stopped at the Pinkberry near her place in Silverlake when I made a visit to LA a few weekends ago. She got a small green tea and I got a medium sized original with Cap’n Crunch, mango, and mochi. I wasn’t *trying* to be a piggie but the guy said that it would be cheaper for me to get the bigger size. I thought I wouldn’t finish it. I was wrong about that too.

The mango was sweet, the mochi was soft and chewy, and the Cap’n Crunch was Cap’n Crunch (I can’t really praise high quality sugared cereal that anyone can buy in the store.) My combo was awesome and all for $4 or so. I like my frozen yogurt tart and this is plenty tart and very creamy.
Please issue my tart frozen yogurt fanclub card.
