sunday brunch ala ateh

leave a comment »

Filipino lesson of the day: Ateh (or ate) is the Filipino word for big sister.

Whenever I go home I like to treat the fam to some brunch. (Not breakfast because I’m not so good at waking up early.) This time I made a more calorie-friendly version than the usual. On the menu:

  • green bell pepper and mushroom scramble using Egg Beaters (no cholesterol – wow!)
  • lite smoked sausage made with turkey and beef
  • fresh waffles with strawberry topping courtesy of Georgie

Investing in that $12 waffle iron was the best thing ever. We’ve made buttermilk, cinnamon pecan, chocolate chip, blueberry… the possibilities are endless!
