adventures in eating

krungthai, mountain view, ca

There’s another Krungthai of the same chain in San Jose near Valley Fair but I most often frequent the one in Mountain View due to it’s proximity to my old ‘hood. This was a Friday night dinner to catch up on life and other details with Lizzie.

We stuck to our usuals and started with papaya salad. I can never get the seasoning right on this one. It’s always too spicy or not spicy enough it. Good thing the papaya itself is always plenty good. Their version has a few slices of tomato, a wedge of cabbage, a few shredded carrots, a sprinkling of crushed peanuts and fish sauce.

We’re also big fans of the yellow chicken curry here. Soft potatoes, creamy coconut milk, and the spice of yellow curry – this has never disappointed me.

Last but not least the old fave of chicken pad see ew or, as Ara my 3 year old goddaughter likes to say, pad see meeeee. I like the caramelized pieces of noodle and the little bits of egg. They also do a good job of keeping the Chinese broccoli nice and crunchy.

Even though I was super full I ordered the mango and rice dessert. The mango was a bit overripe but the coconut sweet sticky rice was warm and deeelicious.

The entire meal set us back about $40 including tip. The staff is nice and adequately attentive. If you stop by I’d also recommend their tofu dishes. 4****
