the flavors of japanese gelato

with 2 comments

There’s a Haato Japanese gelato place at the Meidi-Ya Supermarket that I so frequent. I ignored it for the first few days but have given in the last two. It would be easier to ignore if not for the fun flavors they have. The durian and rockmelon I could probably leave behind but the black sesame and red bean were definitely calling my name.

I was busy chompin’ down on a cone of black sesame when this flavor caught my eye. I vowed to return the following day to try it out.

Can you guess the flavor by the color?

It’s milk tea! It’s delicious – just the right balance of tea-y with creamy in a handy and refreshing ice cream cone. All that’s missing is the boba. Yes, I thought of Julia and her love for boba and milk tea.

With the cone, will set you back SGD4 (about USD3). Come visit and the first one is on me. 🙂
