Yay back at home! Wrote this entry March 3, 2008…

I’m sitting in my jammies (black and white plaid with pink trim – like ’em?) in one of two full beds in my room on the 51st floor of the Wynn in Las Vegas. Sometimes life is good. Real good.

mesa grill, ceasar’s palace, las vegas

Night #2 in Vegas. Bcam made us reservations at Bobby Flay’s restaurant Mesa Grill which sits right across from the PCD Burlesque Show and Pure. Our waiter was a really nice, decently good looking, supposedly French dude. No pictures since this places was a little classy for that. My premonition was correct in that this was one of those big plates/small food type places.

We started with a shrimp ceviche served with plantain chips. The consensus was that the shrimp was gummy and the flavors were just ok. I was expecting something with a good kick to it and a nice sourness. I had the mahi-mahi which was flavored well but overcooked (sorry, Bobby). Bcam’s chile rellano (even with the goat cheese which I hate!) was good and the best of the entrees. For dessert, chocolate cake. Good but not great.

The best part of the meal were the drinks – three white peach margaritas (heavy handed George at the bar made them plenty strong). By dessert I was walkin’ crooked and talking about layaway.

The entire meal set us back 2 bills (including a nice tip for the friendly waiter).

A few weeks ago I headed to Vegas to celebrate the birthday of a fabulous friend. Dragging Lizzie and Bcam along meant for sure good eats. For our first night we hit Tao for dinner – partly to taste the food, mostly to get into the club afterwards.

Since we weren’t particularly hungry we ordered a few small things to share.
