I love me a good market and London has LOADS of good ones. After my brother and I had parted ways in London, I trekked back to the city with my cousin (who has been living in London for a few years now) to spend some quality girl time.

I had two objectives on this lovely London day: 1) find an old map of Singapore/Southeast Asia and 2) eat something good.

quán ăn ngon, hanoi

Look closely – do you see me in the reflection of the spoon?

Linh treated all of us out to dinner on our last night in Hanoi and picked Quán ăn Ngon for the festivities. If I remember my Vietnamese lesson correctly, Quán ăn Ngon means ‘delicious eating place.’


The place was bustling with activity. There’s a small buildling with indoor seating and then a large tent covered outside area bordered by small food prep stations along the perimeter. Before ordering, Duong and Linh suggested that we take a promenade around the place to pick out things we wanted to try.

I’m back from my adventures in Southeast Asia with tons o’ pictures to share.

First up was 4 days in Singapore where we shacked up at Swissotel the Stamford (what’s up with the awkward sounding name?). In case you were wondering, it is flippin’ hot in Singapore. Like really hot. Makes sense that we spent lots of time in the labyrinth of malls and MRT stations huh?

First meal was a late breakfast in the Raffles Plaza at Out of the Pan. For something around SGD19 (if I remember correctly) you got your choice of salad, crepe, and beverage. Not a bad deal as most of the food in the mall is generally pricey.
